Hello Summer and The Valiant Soldier join forces!
These fun summer Family activities will give you lots of things to do and make all based on fascinating stories from Buckfastleigh’s past.
Children must be accompanied by a parent or carer. Most activities are suitable for children of four upwards. Activities are free and will be in The Valiant Soldier in Buckfastleigh.
The Church on the Hill Monday 29th July 2-4 p.m
Come and find out about the hill, its caves and ancient animals, the lime kilns and ruins. Explore printing to capture some of its images both past and present.
Wool Gathering Monday 5th August 2-4pm
Buckfastleigh is a wool town. For hundreds of years many people in Buckfastleigh made their living from processing wool. Come and try out some wool crafts and spin your own yarn. With Spinner Jackie Millichap.
Invaders! Monday August 12th 2-4pm
The Romans were in Exeter and possibly much closer – four Roman coins were found at Dean. What did they bring with them? Come and make clay pots that the Romans liked and possibly some local ones to trade! With potter Lesley Coulson.
Ghosts from the Granite Monday August 19th 2-4pm
A story-telling and story-making workshop inspired by Dartmoor legends. Listen to some of the old stories and then weave your own spine-chilling tale! No experience necessary. A playful and creative workshop with story teller Sara Hurley.
The Railway Children at Home Friday 30th August (timing flexible)
As part of Hello Summer’s special day on The Railway Children join in some of the games they would have played. There may even be some costume to try on too.
